At the Indonesian Motor Show this week, Honda presented the mid-cycle upgrade of the current generation of Brio. It is an urban model that is marketed in several Asian markets, which arrives renewed and also debut a new version of more dynamic aspect, called RS. This is a visual upgrade that rejuvenates the front with a new bumper and a new grille, and the rear with new lanterns, as well as new designs for the alloy wheels. On the other hand, along with this update debut the new Honda Brio RS, a version that marks the sporting aspect, thanks to a more aggressive aesthetic treatment. The RS trim adds side skirts, headlights with LED daytime running lights, 15-inch alloy wheels and a new trim on the rear window, as well as emblems that identify it as RS. But the most important modifications of the renewed Honda Brio happened inside, that has completely renewed. A new dashboard, with more complete and modern instrumentation, and improvements in materials and finishes, has been introduced to improve the quality of the model. In addition, it has a new digital control for the air conditioning and a new infotainment system equipped with a touch screen of 6.2 inches. Underneath the hood comes the i-VTEC four-cylinder 1.2-liter engine, which receives improvements and now generates 90 hp and 110 Nm of torque, a slight improvement over the 88 hp of the model it replaces. The engine is combined with a five-speed manual transmission or a CVT-type automatic. In addition, a lot of accessories are offered to customize it, which include chrome inserts in the exterior and interior, sport exhaust pipes, etc.

Honda introduces City’s 2016 lineup with new features that make it even more complete on all versions. The sedan is in its second generation in Brazil – launched in the second half of last year – and has four configurations: DX, LX, EX and EXL. All are equipped with the 1.5 i-VTEC FlexOne engine allied to the five-speed manual transmission in the DX and CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) in the other versions. With bold style, high level of comfort and efficiency, the City 2016 brings in all the line items of series like: air-conditioning (manual in the versions DX and LX, and digital touchscreen in EX and EXL); sound system with Bluetooth, USB input and HFT (Hands Free Telephone) function; electric drive for door locks, windows and external mirrors; steering wheel with height and depth adjustment; modern and easy-to-view instrument panel; as well as a penknife type key with locking system and unlocking the doors with immobilizer. Among the safety equipment, the model has brakes with ABS; electric EPS (Electric Power Steering); driver and front passenger airbags, plus side and curtain airbags in the EXL version; three-point seat belts; The DX version added a number of top-of-the-range items such as a penknife switch, instrument panel and white color audio display, gradient windshield, steering depth adjustment (height adjustment already) and rear-view mirrors in color bodywork. In addition to these equipment, the LX version brings as novelties the chrome internal knobs and audio control on the steering wheel. In the City EX, the steering wheel was finished in leather and a central front armrest with a storage compartment was added. The EXL version also has curtain airbags, which covers the entire glazed side, totaling six protection bags (front, side and curtain), and 7.0-inch multimedia center with integrated navigator. This system has USB, micro SD and auxiliary inputs, and Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connection. The screen also reproduces the image of the rear camera. Another outstanding technology in the EX and EXL settings is the digital air conditioner with touchscreen commands.

Comfort, sophistication and excellent interior space

The new equipment added to the City line reinforces the modernity, sophistication and high quality standard of the model, characteristics that put it at a higher level. The current generation, launched in the second half of last year, brought changes in design, internal space and mechanical assembly, as well as technological innovations.
Inside, the space has been enlarged, significantly improving the comfort for the occupants. For the driver and passenger of the front seat, the distance between the shoulders has been increased by 40 mm and the head-to-ceiling space is 10 mm larger than the previous generation. Rear seat passengers also have more legroom, with a 60-mm lift in the distance for the front seats and a further 70 mm in the knee space. The luggage and objects can easily be accommodated in the trunk, which has access expanded by 20 mm and has a capacity of 536 liters (including the space below).

Performance and efficiency

The 1.5 i-VTEC 16V engine features FlexOne technology, which dispenses the auxiliary fuel tank for cold starting as it heats the fuel in the injector itself, if necessary. When there is a high concentration of ethanol and low ambient temperature, the injectors heat the fuel as needed, resulting in a quick and safe start. This propeller offers high performance combined with the reduction of fuel consumption, achieving “A” classification in the Conpet (test carried out by Inmetro – National Institute of Metrology, Quality and Technology), both in the Relative Comparison in the Category and in the Overall Absolute Comparison. The i-VTEC 1.5 generates 116 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 150 Nm of torque at 4,800 rpm when fueled with ethanol – it’s 115 hp at 6,000 rpm and 149 Nm at 4,800 rpm with gasoline. This performance is due mainly to the variable valve control, which electronically controls the synchronization and opening of the valves, allowing efficient responses in all ranges of rotation. The DX version has a five-speed manual transmission and the others are equipped with a CVT transmission, with EX and EXL bringing ‘butterflies’ on the steering wheel for seven-speed virtual gear changes. The CVT transmission has a torque converter and a higher turn elasticity, which improves traction at low speeds, providing faster response, linear acceleration and fuel economy. To ensure excellent handling, comfort and safety, the suspension has also been perfected in this generation. At the front, the system is MacPherson type, with a hydraulic stop to reduce the ‘rebound’ effect – it prevents the impact of the suspension at the end of the course when leaving a spine, for example. At the rear, there are hydraulic bushings and a tighter spindle. The City 2016 line has a three-year unlimited mileage warranty and will be available at dealerships starting in February in the following colors: Metallic Jupiter Brown, Metallic Barium Gray, Metallic Iridium Gray, Metallic Global Silver, White Taffetá and Pearl Crystal.

– In constant evolution, the model also has news for the LXR version, which starts with the VSA traction / stability control and the unprecedented HSA (Hill Start Assist), maintaining itself as a reference in handling and technology in its category. Honda introduces the 2016 Civic, and brings as a main novelty the return of the top EXR version, which complements the line already made up of the LXS and LXR configurations. The Civic EXR is relaunched with the changes in the exterior and interior of the vehicle received by the LXR version in the line 2015 – differentiated front grille, chrome bar in the air intake of the bumper, fog light with circular shape, alloy wheels ring 17 inch top black interior trim and metallised paint finish on the dashboard frame – as well as adding comfort, safety and entertainment technologies. Amongst the highlights, the top-of-the-line version features VSA (Vehicle Stability Assist) traction / stability control and the MA-EPS (Motion Adaptive Electric Power Steering) steering system, which interprets the driver’s movement favoring or when the car starts to leave the trajectory in a curve, helping in the resumption of control of the vehicle. The Civic EXR is also equipped with Hill Start Assist (HSA), a ramp start assist, which keeps the vehicle braking for a few seconds to assist in uphill climb. Continuing the steady evolution of the model and reference in drivability and technology in the mid-range sedan category, Honda has also adopted these features for the Civic LXR as a novelty of the 2016 line. The new equipment package makes the vehicle even more complete, characteristics that have consecrated him as a success in his segment: pleasure in driving, high technology, sophistication and sporty and jovial design.

Innovation and refinement

In addition to the innovations shared with the LXR version, EXR has exclusive equipment. On the exterior, the highlights are the sunroof and the door handles of the chrome doors – in the LXR, the parts are painted in the color of the body. Internally, the top-of-the-line version features a new multimedia system with retractable 7-inch LCD monitor and browser integrated into the panel. This unit brings software more advanced than the previous generation, including GPS integrated with the traffic information of the main capitals of the country – initially, São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Brasilia and Belo Horizonte. The hardware is also new and enables Wi-Fi connection with the use of browser for internet access (when the vehicle is not in motion), as well as the Bluetooth connection for calls and audio playback. Also included as a novelty is the HDMI input that allows the reproduction of audio, video and images in high definition through devices such as notebooks, digital cameras and others. There are also two USB ports, plus the CD player and the auxiliary input. Image reproduction of the rearview camera has three viewing modes (normal, wide field and top to bottom), including the dynamic guide function, in which the guide line accompanies the steering wheel rotation

In the LXR and LXS versions of the Civic 2016, the audio hub is comprised of a 5-inch color LCD monitor in the dashboard, which reproduces the vehicle’s general information, on-board computer and the rear-view camera image, as well as data of the audio system, which has CD player, auxiliary input, USB and Bluetooth. The air conditioning is digital throughout the line, making it possible to maintain the ideal temperature inside the vehicle. The panel features a black top, contrasting with a light gray bottom, and a metallic paint finish on the dashboard frame, giving it a sporty and sophisticated look. The LXR and EXR versions also feature automatic headlamp activation, leather seat trim and steering wheel controls with chrome rims. The Honda Civic 2016 features all-wheel-drive power steering, four-wheel disc brakes, ABS (anti-lock braking) and EBD (braking distribution). The EXR version still adds side and curtain airbags. On the outside, in addition to the attractive and sporty look, the low beam headlight with cannon-type projectors enhances the focus, providing more safety due to the better directing of the light in night driving. In the LXR and EXR versions, the wheels are 17-inch light alloy wheels with unique design and diamond finish. The 205 / 50R17 tires guarantee better handling, with lower rolling resistance, without compromising passenger comfort.

FlexOne for the whole line

The entire Civic 2016 line – from the LXS i-VTEC 1.8 SOHC to the EXR i-VTEC 2.0 SOHC top version – features the modern FlexOne system, which dispenses the auxiliary tank for cold start, ensuring a fast and safe, even in low ambient temperature, in addition to fuel-efficient performance. With this technology, by activating the key control to unlock the doors, a set of heaters comes into action directly in the fuel line making the temperature, especially of ethanol, ideal for composing an air / fuel mixture ready for immediate combustion. The i-VTEC 1.8 SOHC engine generates maximum power from 140 hp to 6,500 rpm with the use of ethanol – when fueled with gasoline, it’s 139 hp at 6,200 rpm. In addition to the six-speed manual transmission option, the LXS version features the five-speed automatic transmission, which gives the driver a more pleasurable and comfortable ride. In the LXR and EXR versions, the engine is the i-VTEC 2.0 SOHC, which guarantees fuel-efficient performance. This engine develops 155 horsepower at 6,300 rpm when fueled with ethanol and 150 hp with gasoline at the same speed. The automatic transmission is equipped with paddle shift, offering a more sporty driving. The Civic 2016 continues to be equipped with the ECON function, which allows for more economical driving. By activating the push of a button, several vehicle systems change their operation to focus on low fuel consumption, such as Electronic Throttle Control System (ETCS) and air conditioning.

The Civic 2016 line has a three-year warranty, with no mileage limit, and is available in the following colors:

Mandatory Documents for Cars

Car insurances, like in fact all vehicle insurances, are first of all a measure of protection against any kind of damage or liability that might occur as a result of a traffic collision. This means that a vehicle insurance would pay a valid claim that is consequence to a collision. Because of that, in many states it is mandatory and it is seen as a contravention or a law breaking to use the vehicle on a public road without the insurance. Since the introduction for the first time of the vehicle insurance in the beginning of the 20’th century, the rules and regulations have changed a great deal in many countries. However, the main purpose is still the same and the insurance is the only thing that can pay for the damages and injuries that occur after a collision. It is compulsory because of this fact. Consequently, instead of the person who was guilty for the collision to pay for everything, it is the insurance company that can cover all expenses.

There are several types of car insurances. Some are mandatory and some are optional. Those that are optional cover more than the damages and the liabilities, but also what happens to your own car. Considering the fact that most cars are very expensive, paying a small fee for the insurance is definitely not a financial effort in comparison to what you would have to pay otherwise. Sometimes the amounts of money are really high that without the insurance you wouldn’t be able to cover all the expenses. Some do not cover only damages as results of collisions, but also other types of damages. Moreover having your auto insured against theft can be very wise, since these thefts happen more often than we imagine. It is better to take precautions and have our assets covered. Besides insuring the good itself, the auto insurance covers the medical bills after the accident and protects you from the possible lawsuits costs. Car insurances are and will always be mandatory even if they take several forms. Some countries even tried to introduce a system of paying for the insurance whenever you buy gas. However, they soon realized that it wasn’t fare to everyone and some ended up in paying more than they should have paid. Whatever the form it takes, the important thing to know is that they are compulsory and it is for the driver’s sake to purchase one.

How Important Is Car Warranty

There are many mechanical and electrical components within a car. This means there is a reasonable chance that something could go wrong with your car at any time. No, let me put it this way – something will go wrong – sooner or later. Costly and unexpected car repairs are something that none of us want, so a car warranty can help protect us against this. A warranty can be purchased for your car at any time. There are many factors when it comes to car warranties so what do you need to know?

What Does Statistics have to Say About It?

The length of a vehicle warranty gets featured more prominently in car advertising and marketing campaigns these days. This has resulted in warranties becoming more important to the consumer when looking to buy a car. Research has shown that around half of car buyers say that warranty length is a major consideration when purchasing a car. But, also about 37 percent of car buyers say they are not even aware of the length of a guarantee period after buying a car. During the last ten years manufacturer warranties have consistently increased in their length. Ten years ago the majority of vehicles came with standard three year coverage. This included road use of up to thirty six thousand miles. Now many manufacturers are offering warranties of up to seven years in some cases with 50000 mile coverage. Some of these warranties, though, are limited in what faults they cover. It is these coverage limitations that can make the purchasing process more complicated for the consumer. A wide variety of warranties can be found when looking at one particular vehicle. It is common for a numerous warranties to exist on a new vehicle relating to different parts of the car.

Read the Small Print

There are certain components of a car that are excluded from the manufacturer’s guarantee. For example, batteries may have separate terms of use that originate from their own manufacturer. Air bags and seatbelts may also fall into this category. In the majority of cases factory-installed options will come under the manufacturer’s warranty but it is important for the consumer to check the details. There are certain factors that can result in a car warranty becoming void. Misusing a vehicle is one factor. This could mean participating in car races or overloading the vehicle. If your car is involved in a serious accident, declared a write-off, but then restored, this will void the warranty. Tampering with the odometer will also make it void. So, when purchasing a car it is important to examine the details of any given papers. Car warranties have extended in length over the years but some would say they are also more complex. Fully understanding what’s covered and what’s not is essential for the consumer’s peace of mind when buying a vehicle.

How to Find Any Faults On a Car Through a Test Drive

With even more money now being spent on cars, it is essential that you take every precaution you can when coming to buy your next car. And yet most don’t do it. Why, most have never really been told how to do it properly. Buying a car is the next biggest purchase you’ll come to make after buying your home. And to make it even worse the chances are you’ll be replacing your car every 3 years or so. So if you get it wrong even once, you could be seriously out of pocket. But this should never be the case. And one of the best ways of avoiding all of this is to know how best to take a car for a test drive.

Many of us pretend we know how to take a car for Test Drive

To many this is just a 15 minute drive around the local streets. And to make it even worse, if this is what you do with any car dealer, they are just only too happy to go along with it. They know they have got you where they want you. The car still keeps all its hidden secrets and problem areas. You fall in love with the car and end up paying somewhere near what the dealer wants you to pay. And to make it even worse only a little has been knocked off the original price. Yet, you’re happy as you think you’ve got a great deal and the dealer is only too happy as you’ve now paid more than you should have for that make and model of car in the first place. But the question you should really be asking yourself is the car you’ve just bought going to cost you dearly in car repairs sometime in the future? It will enable you to check out the steering, the suspension, the road handling, etc. to name but a few of the checks.

Checklists tell you what to cover on any Test Drive

When taking a car for a test drive, you need to have a proper checklist of everything that needs to be covered. Ah, you say what is the best way of doing this. One way is to bring someone along with you or you can simply stop and park the car up to check off what you have covered to-date. And by using in-depth checklists you’ll know for certain that you have covered everything possible. As part of your in-depth checklists you’ll now know what to look out for that make and model of car you’ve taken a special interest in. Remember any faults you’ve pick up can be used to your advantage. But if there are serious faults or issues, this is flashing up warning signs that this car should be left well alone. But if there are only minor ones you can use these to you advantage by knocking the price down even further.
